Video: Whores – Tell Me Something Scientific Video Clip

Whores sound like the spawn of The Jesus Lizard and Melvins. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself because they are that musically interesting, and that downright heavy. I love it.

A three-piece noise-rock band from Atlanta, Georgia featuring Christian Lembach on guitar and vocals, Travis Owen on drums, and Jake Shultz on bass. According to their Facebook page ‘We were in other bands. Now we’re in this band. Soon we will all be deaf.’

They are influenced by gigantic amps and fuzz, Shellac, Melvins, The Jesus Lizard, Unsane and Helmet – so hence my intro wasn’t too far off the mark was it?

Leader singer Christian named the band Whores in recognition that everyone has to be a sell-out at some point and compromise, whether they are working for the man or the IRS.

The single Tell Me Something Scientific is off their debut EP Ruiner released in 2011. Check out Daddy’s Money and Shower Time from the EP for starters, and at US$5 for 5 tracks you can’t go wrong.

Shower Time video clip (featuring sound bites from two of my favourite comedians George Carlin & Bill Hicks!):

Whores recently were in the studio in May and June recording a new album with producer Ryan Boesch (Melvins, Helmet, Foo Fighters, Tomahawk, Fu Manchu).

The album is due out shortly on Brutal Panda Records. There is a god!

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
