Video: Deltron 3030 Live at The Luminato Festival (Toronto, Canada on 11 June 2012)

Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Dan The Automator and Kid Koala are back to take you on a futuristic sci-fi hip-hop journey of Deltron 3030, my friends! Had you noticed that it’s been 13 short years since their first stunning outing back in 2000?

Well, these are some amazingly talented people with lots of musical cake to eat – so please don’t get offended that they have a life:

  • Del Tha Funkee Homosapien – Narrator Deltron Osiris (aka Del Tha Ghost Rapper, Sir Dzl) Del also raps with that other pseudo band Gorillaz. Today’s factoid: Del’s cousin is the one and only Ice Cube!
  • Dan The Automator Nakamura – DJ & producer extraordinaire (aka Nathaniel Merriweather, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Lovage, Crudo, Pillowfight). Dan also produced the first Gorillaz album.
  • Kid Koala – DJ & turntablist, collaborator on Gorillaz (notice a theme here?), Lovage, The Slew & Peeping Tom.

Deltron 3030: Event II is a full new album out on 1 October 2013 (Bulk Recordings), following the release of the City Rising From The Ashes EP last month (available now on iTunes). Oh folks, I can tell you are going to love it!

The 9 year in the making album features guests galore: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas), Zack De La Rocha (Rage Against The Machine), Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Emily Wells (Pillowfight), David Cross (Arrested Development!), and loads of others, including actor Joseph Gordon Levitt (Inception, 500 Days of Summer, Third Rock From The Sun)!

Del likens the concept album to the musical opera, Tommy and advises that Dan was given free rein over the guests he brought in to work on the ‘characters’ used on the album.

You can pre-order Deltron 3030: Event II via iTunes, or walk into a record store and demand they hand over a copy in-person… after you exchange some cash/credit! Don’t go in there without an ability to pay and demand anything, that would be considered a robbery!

City Rising From The Ashes is actually the lead single from the album. Listen to Del’s sweet raps right here, right now:

Track 2 of the EP is The Agony which reminds me of what happens when Deltron 3030 channel The Avalanches *magic happens*:

Pay The Price is also track 3 the EP and will be released on Deltron 3030: Event II:

Deltron 3030 return with a 16-piece orchestra in tow to perform across the US until November 2013. Get your tickets right now… no sob stories will be permitted (“but I live in Melbourne, and I can’t afford to fly over to the States for this once in a lifetime opportunity” Bah, NoisyNoodle! And stop talking about yourself in the third person).

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”.
