Video: Gorillaz Clint Eastwood Music Clip (featuring Del as Ghost Russel)

Do you remember when you first fell for the Gorillaz? I do. It was right about the time they released their first single Clint Eastwood!

Firstly, the song was named after one of the greatest directors of all time, Mr Clint Eastwood (Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino – must I go on? Just give him a Gran Torino full of Oscars and let’s skip the next few years of waffle!).

Secondly, it features the rapping of Del Tha Funkee Homosapien as the ghost of Gorillaz pseudo drummer Russel Hobbs. Welcome back, Del! I was a fan of Mistadobalina back in ’91.

Thirdly, comic artist Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl) provides the amazing visuals giving an identity to the “members” of Gorillaz (Russel, 2D, Noodle and the dastardly Murdoc).

Lastly, the music (c. 2001) is put together by the musical virtuosos Del, Damon Albarn (Blur), and Dan The Automator! Enough said. Now go and enjoy the groundbreaking clip!

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
