Video: Autechre Second Bad Vilbel Video (Directed by Chris Cunningham 1996)

The unequivocal kings of electronic music, Autechre are planning to drop a new EP for your cute pointy ears next month. Mark down Monday 28 October in your diary now or make a note in one of those new fandangled things you call a “smartphone”.

L-Event is the name of the EP and the cool dudes from Autechre (Rob Brown and Sean Booth) have assured me* it will be a short and sharp 26 minutes and 4 seconds in length.

The EP will be released on CD and vinyl, and a high quality version will also be available for download for those of you who fear to be burdened by cumbersome media. You can fill yourself with glee by pre-ordering the treasure now at Bleep.

L-Event follows Exai their 17-track double-album release from March 2013 which was accompanied by a live stream. Will L-Event be given the same fanfare? Probably not, as it’s just an EP – but we can dream, can’t we?

The cover of L-Event bears a striking resemblance to the cover of Exai. Why? I’m not sure. It may be a Tetris puzzle for you to complete in your spare time.

* Via email correspondence. I didn’t speak to them in person. I’m just on their mailing list. Get a grip, I don’t have their home numbers!

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
