Video: Whores Tell Me Something Scientific Live at Union Pool, Brooklyn (15 June 2012)
Atlanta’s bastards of noise Whores have released a sneak peek of their new recording Clean. Christian Lembach, Travis Owen, Jake Shultz have not disappointed – this is really great stuff.
Baby Bird and Last Looks are tracks 1 and 2 on Clean, and boy are they going to jostle for position with their previous EP Ruiner on my preferred listening device.
It’s as if they heard that The Jesus Lizard inexplicably cancelled their All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival appearance in Melbourne in October and said ‘Damn it, let’s get this shit out pronto to fix all that’s wrong in the world’!
Last Looks grabbed me by the throat at first listen, with a catchy bass line and lyrics addressing cowards. Baby Bird is a lovely noisy mess which pleases me very much and leaves me itching for more…
It is my
duty honour to ensure you spend $6 to pre-order Clean today at Bandcamp, so I advise you to crank up your speakers and engage your ears in this jaw-dropping ruckus:
Thanks also to engineer extraordinaire Ryan Boesch (Melvins, Helmet, Fu Manchu, Tomahawk, Foo Fighters) who recorded the tunes at Parhelion Recording Studios in Atlanta. You do my ears a very kind favour!
Tour news will be followed shortly, but those of you in Atlanta need to get your arse to The Basement on Saturday 19 October to see Whores up close and sweaty.
Whores’ release Clean on 29 October 2013 via Brutal Panda Records.
How am I going to amuse myself for the next 16 days until the rest of the EP is released?
