Video: Crimson ProjeKCt Red live @ Gibson Amphitheater, Los Angeles (2 July 2012) with Danny Carey (Tool) on drums

2014 is the year of King Crimson v King Crimson. It’s like Kramer v Kramer where your attention is split between two parents. Robert Fripp is bringing back a new King Crimson in 2014, that much we know. Adrian Belew retaliates back from his disgraceful booting out by Fripp days after the announcement by confirming he’ll be touring with The Crimson ProjeKCt.

Poor Adrian, first it was former music buddy Trent Reznor who made his touring with NIN difficult and now its Robert Fripp. Meanwhile in 2012, Belew joined forces with 2 other ex-King Crimson folk – Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto and formed the The Crimson ProjeKCt.

Levin and Mastelotto created another interesting side project called Stick Men, with the help of touch guitarist Markus Reuter. If you like Adrian Belew’s solo work with Danny Carey (Tool) and Les Claypool (Primus) you must seek out the sounds of Stick Men.

Belew has put together an Australian tour of The Crimson ProjeKCt for 2014, and damn is it looking amazing. The plan for the Australian tour is to give the audience 3 hours of fine music, in the following fashion:

  • Stick Men (+ 1-2 King Crimson tracks)
  • The Adrian Belew Power Trio (+ 1 King Crimson track)
  • Belew, Levin & Mastelotto  (+ 1 King Crimson track)
  • Stick Men + The Adrian Belew Power Trio play King Crimson tracks

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
