The best gifts are always unexpected. Not unexpected like socks or jocks at Christmas, but as in you never saw the gifts coming (not tied to any day of celebration or torture, in the case of Easter).

Soundwave Festival organiser AJ Maddah released a bomb right before Christmas, there is to be a documentary about the Soundwave Festival released in the new year. February 2014 to be exact.

Filmed during the 2012 Soundwave Festival the documentary has been created and edited by your favourite masked metallers, Slipknot.

Yes, No. 6 (Shawn Crahan) and No. 8 (Corey Taylor) have been quietly concocting this visual ode to the Australian punk and metal festival unbeknownst to the rest of us. Thank you very much, gentlemen!

Is ‘gentlemen’ the correct way to address a clown? I haven’t seen the film It in a very long time, but I know that I ought not to piss off a clown!

The documentary is said to include live footage, interviews and backstage footage from the 2012 tour. I don’t say this often, perhaps I’ve never said it before, but this is *totes amazeballs*!

I was at the festival that very year, and you might therefore spy me in documentary performing the massive crowd crouch down during the Slipknot performance of Spit It Out. I’m reasonably sure Corey and Shawn have captured my awesome crouching tiger abilities in the film, I was in perfect alignment and ‘at one’ with the crowd, or so I tell you.

The Soundwave Festival Documentary will be given gifted to Soundwave 2014 ticket holders for free*. The mechanism of delivery is currently being pondered by Maddah and his peoples.

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
