Video: The Mark of Cain Perform First Time Live (Channel V, 18 April 2001)

2013 gig highlight #3: The Mark of Cain fill-in drummer Eli Green almost losing and then catching his drumstick mid-air! Best save ever!

It is hard to find a replacement for the hard-hitting drummer John Stanier (Battles, Tomahawk, Helmet) and when a 22-year-old is announced as the temporary replacement your expectations are reasonably low. However, the drummer from Adelaide’s Life Pilot showed he had the goods by not only learning a far portion of The Mark of Cain back catalogue in a short amount of time, but also by pulling it off live!

The gig was at The Hi-Fi in Melbourne on 15 March 2013 and The Mark of Cain rocked everyone of us in the audience with their showing of Songs of The Third & Fifth.

Naturally, they also played all their TMOC classics to warm the cockles of my heart.

Ha, cockle = mollusk… remember Ween’s The Mollusk? I love that song.

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
