Video: Cancer Bats Sabotage Music Clip

2013 gig highlight #5: Cancer Bats covering the Beastie Boys Sabotage hardcore style. Adam Yauch would have been proud.

The event was the 2013 Soundwave Festival at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne on 1 March 2013. The sun was shining outside but the Bats were playing under a tent in the afternoon so it was a welcome respite for us sunburned type. The type that go from white to red directly back to white again once the burnt layer of skin flakes off. Too much information?

I knew the band played the Sabotage cover from time to time, but it was bitterly sweet to hear it when I knew I was never to see the Beastie Boys perform the song live again (RIP Adam).

Given the Cancer Bats were the highlight of the festival for me, they earned the right to play the song anyway they liked. And they rocked it.

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
