Audio: Body Count Talk Shit, Get Shot Track.

Body Count are in da house! The Original Gangster Ice-T and his LA thrash metal band Body Count have a new album Manslaughter due to be released by Sumerian Records on 10 June 2014.

The first track from the album is Talk Shit, Get Shot and it’s a killer. Manslaughter will be their first album in 8 years since their last effort Murder For Hire was released in 2006.

Sadly the original line-up won’t be able to reform as 3 members have since passed away (Mooseman, Beatmaster V, D-Roc), so the new line-up includes Ice-T, his cousin Ernie C on guitar, guitarist Juan of the Dead, bass player Vincent Price*, drummer Ill Will, and Sean E Sean on backup vocals/sampler.

I’ve been patiently awaiting Body Count’s return to Australia as I haven’t seen them play live for 20 years. Ice-T had previously been in talks with AJ Maddah (Soundwave Festival), but that fell through as it clashed with his SVU TV filming schedule. Thus, I’m not sure if or when they’ll return… but I will be waiting.

Body Count will be on tour for the Mayhem Festival over the US summer July-August. Don’t miss out.

There goes the neighbourhood…

About noisynoodle

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!

Unbelievable. I don’t really look forward to much in the way of new music but to be quite honest I’m actually looking forward to this in an unironic way. I’m not really a huge Body Count fan but there’s really something primal about this that grabs me. It reminds me of old school New York tough guy hardcore. Kind of like Madball or Sick Of It All. It’s a nice filthy antithesis to the clean, overproduced laptop metal that’s out there.

Hence Madball are supporting Body Count at the official launch! I’ve been playing early Body Count songs all week in anticipation. I even found their Hendrix cover of Hey Joe which I only had on tape.
