King Buzzo lead singer of Melvins heads off on a solo and acoustic tour across the US and Australia (lucky us!) to support the release of his new album This Machine Kills Artists. The 17 track album is due out in a few short days, on 3 June 2014, while his tour kicks off in June in San Diego, California and continues on to Perth, Australia in August, with plans to tour the globe for several months.

Buzzo calls his solo music ‘molk’, which is metal and folk combined which I think forms something strange and beautiful. His acoustic tracks remind me of the guitar wizardry found in Mexico’s finest metallers turned Flamenco, Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Have a listen for yourself:

I’m not sure what you should wear to fit into the molk scene, perhaps a black metal t-shirt upstairs and shorts and thongs (aka flip-flops) downstairs? Just imitate whatever Buzzo’s wearing… although the hair might take you a bit of time to put together. That grey streak alone is genius.

Tickets for Buzzo’s Australian tour dates are on sale from tomorrow, 26 May 2014 (approx $43).

I am a noisy noodle hailing from Melbourne, Australia who loves listening to noise in all forms, but preferably in music, TV and film. I’ve moonlighted on community radio at SYN-FM many years ago when I was still a “youth”. My mission is to promote live music (get off your bum and see something!), highlight interesting TV shows that are ignored by the ratings, expose some cool films and to not go deaf trying!
